Floor and wall coverings often represent the first element to be taken into consideration to optimize the appearance of a house or of any other type of building. Sometimes, however, among the many beautiful materials available, the choice can become really complicated. It is therefore worth understanding the reasons for choosing ceramic coatings.
Is ceramics ideal in every room?
Ceramics can be one of the best materials for the construction of floors and walls, which works in almost every room: whether it is a bedroom or an office, the result is always excellent, both in technical and aesthetic terms.
Precisely for these reasons, ceramics is often used in kitchens and bathrooms, as well as on balconies, entrances, corridors and other areas characterized by an high traffic of people and things, including outdoor ones. In many homes, even impressive ceramic tiles are used, in both living areas and bedrooms. In other words, you cannot really go wrong with this material.
What you can do to get the best, is to choose something “softer” or “cosier” in certain areas of the home or of your firm and, above all, make use of a professional installation. The latter will ensure a flawless installation and will prolong the life of your coverings and floors, albeit with very little maintenance.
The characteristics of ceramic tiles
The main characteristic of ceramic coatings is water resistance. The glazed ceramic floor slabs have in fact a protective top layer, which makes them waterproof and resistant to most types of stains, as well as to bad weather and high humidity. This is the main reason why ceramics for floors and walls are favoured in wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundries.
In addition to glazed surfaces, there are also unglazed (opaque) tiles, which must however be sealed to protect their surfaces from liquids and stains. In general, ceramic floorings and coatings are extremely resistant and, without particular stresses, are difficult to break and scratch.
In any case, it should not be forgotten that a quality installation can allow the walls or flooring to last for dozens of years (of course, if the floor is well maintained)! At the same time, it is useful to know that if a single tile were to break due to a strong impact, the replacement process will turn out to be relatively simple and fast.
Finally, we must not forget that ceramic tiles are easy to clean and hardly attract or retain dirt, dust, pollen or other allergens.
Another reason to choose ceramics? Customization!
Modern production techniques allow manufacturers to make printed and decorated coatings in a variety of ways. Moreover, different slabs can be combined with each other, creating original and personalized compositions, and can be moulded with the intent to credibly reproduce the appearance of hard woods or natural stones. The tiles themselves can be cut and shaped into triangles, rectangles and planks.
Therefore, even from an aesthetic point of view, we certainly cannot complain. You will find many examples on our site, and you can also request all the information you need.
